Whoooo ... is Awesome?!

Hi everyone! Hope you're having a fabulous week so far. Have you seen all the new sets in the Gerda Steiner shop? Everything has been amazing!

One of the cutest sets ever might just have to be the Owl Rather Be With You set, what do you think?

I really wanted to feature just one of the owls in a one-layer, clean and simple card. I also wanted to set a nighttime scene. I started off by masked off a circle in the top center of an A2 card panel and stamping the owl of choice in the middle. The circle was a little bit bigger than the stamp so I just decided to extend the branches so they went to the edges of the circle. I wanted to color a night sky using distress inks so I create a mask to protect the stamped owl image.

For the night sky/galaxy background, I used a couple bright colors (blue, yellow, pink) and darkened it up with a dark blue and black. Lastly, I added some white splatter to mimic stars.

One of my favorite parts of masking is removing the mask once the background color is added... it's always magical!

To finish off this card, I colored the owl. I also heat embossed the "Whooo is awesome?" sentiment from the set on black cardstock. While adding the sentiment strip to the bottom of the circled area, I decided to add some additional branches to the scene to give it a little something extra.

I trimmed down this A2 panel a little bit and popped it on a piece of yellow cardstock. I decided that even though black might have matched better, I wanted the pop of color that tied together with the owl's eyes.

For the inside of the card, I added the "you are" sentiment along with a stamped image of another owl from the set.

I really loved how this card turned out and I love how simple it is! Hope you enjoyed it and I'll see you next time with another card. Have a great day!

Tigerkid and Monsterkid

Hi, Margreet here.
This is my second creation with the Gerda Steiner Designs Halloween Kids Digital Stamps Bundle.
This time I used Tigerkid and Monsterkid.
I adhered the designpaper on the purple cardstock.
I die cut the spider and its web and adhered this in the left corner.
Then I colored Tigerkid and Monsterkid with copics, and added some googly eyes.
The black cats (Joy!crafts) were die cut twice.
