Smile! Turn that frown upside down by Jeannie

Hi everyone! It’s Jeannie (InsideoutJeans) on the blog today with Gerda Steiner Design’s stamp set named, Upside Down Flamingo. It's one of those unique sets and also, hilarious. I just love how the flamingo is looking underneath through his legs.

For this card, I started out with a card panel and did some ink blending. I used a couple shades of green distress inks (Mowed Lawn and Peeled Paint) for the grass. To provide some dimension, I used a few similar alcohol markers to add blades of grass. In the sky, I used a base of Squeezed Lemonade to cover the rest of the card panel. I also wanted to add some interest to the background so I used a layering stencil called Catching Some Rays. For the first layer, I used Mustard Seed and then for the second layer, I used Fossilized Amber

I stamped out the flamingo from the Upside Down Flamingo set and colored him in using pink alcohol markers. I had this pink flock and really wanted to use it to add texture and just a general fuzziness to the flamingo. I used some liquid glue and added it right over the pink areas, waited a little bit and added flock, pressing it down to adhere properly. Isn't it so fun?

For the sentiment, I stamped it out using a watermark ink on black cardstock, adding some white embossing powder. I decided to trim down each word to scatter around the flamingo. I thought it added some fun to the card. What do you think?

Thanks for stopping by today and I hope you get inspired to create. Come back again soon for more inspiration and ideas! Happy Crafting!
